b is for boy...

10.14.2014

Third trimester has officially showed up to the party. Some days are miserable other days are surprisingly wonderful--like I don't even feel like I'm pregnant. I finally splurged this weekend at Gap and bought myself some real maternity jeans, along with some other maternity basics, and while that amazing 40% off everything sale was going on, of course I picked up a few things for baby as well...
Marcus was so happy when I came home and tried on the new goods--I think he was getting pretty sick of seeing me in t-shirts that were too short and leggings everyday! Ha.

Baby's measuring two weeks small, which is still considered in the 'safe zone'--I'm crossing my fingers that means he'll just be a little baby (6 lbs pretty please!) and not that he'll actually take two more weeks to come, because, be still my soul, I can't take that!

The sweet tooth has returned to the scene, as well as strong cravings for pizza (specifically from La Grande Orange) but I'm trying my best to get iron-rich foods in my diet, so I don't turn anemic. Have any great salad recipes I should try out?

a small town life for me?

10.11.2012

Spent conference weekend in the woods, surrounded by family, singing bluebirds, plump squirrels and a few curious deer.
The sound of the wind through the pines got me craving a small town life. I get that way lately, when we're all together up there. It was also the most well-behaved Poppy has ever been--it was her first real experience with green grass and wide open spaces. In most of the pictures she's nothing but a blur. I guess that's what freedom does to her. It's safe to say, she was in heaven.
And so were the kids. Running around, climbing, playing in the shallow stream, sitting on the porch watching wildlife--i love that.
"Her got a sock!" -Coco (in reference to her cast)
Living in a city brings so many conveniences, but it also brings a chaos that most kids don't like or understand. It seems they're happiest with simplicity and perhaps in turn, the parents are also--but to give it all up and trust that you will be is the scary part.

If i could just find a cute little town that also had a La Grande Orange and a Lolo's Chicken & Waffles, I think I could probably do it.
I want to believe that anyway.
What about you?
Any of you small town (past or present) dwellers want to weigh in?

A La Grande Time, With La Grande Friends, At La Grande Orange

9.14.2012

This week Jack and Jenny came for a quick visit on their way to Texas. It was fun to get to introduce them to our new puppy and take them to a few of our favorite eateries.
Obviously La Grande Orange Pizzeria was on the bill. We always get the avocado pizza with added corn. Y'all, just don't knock it til you've tried it, and please, please try it.
Jack is clearly having a moral complex in this picture--to eat the last piece of divine pizza even though one's full, or not to eat the blessed pizza.
Always eat it. Always.
Nobody knows where jack other shoe went in this picture--he's always full of surprises.
And nobody knows why I look 7 feet tall in this picture...
They're cute and I miss them already. Good luck in Texas guys!

doing whatever we felt like.

7.31.2012

last week was our two year anniversary and marcus took the day off so we could properly pamper ourselves for a job well done thus far in this thing called marriage.
i thought that was a very wise choice, indeed.
we woke up when we felt like it, and we ate breakfast at la grande orange--something we have been wanting to do ever since we found out they served breakfast.

on our way back we saw an adorable nursery and since it wasn't too terribly hot outside that day, we pulled over and walked around.
the green house was my very favorite part of the whole place, that and the sunflower that sang out-loud for all to hear, (but can only be heard by those who are willing to listen). i liked her every much.
after that we got massages, and ate dinner at one of our favorite places, Grazie.
we love them for their savory pizza, but especially for their NUTELLA calzone!
my mouth is watering just looking at this right now.
i think i must go get one tomorrow.
yes.
it was such a lovely day with my lovely husband, spent just as anniversaries should be spent--together.

two-thousand-eleven, you've been good to us.
