Nobody told me this before, but doing short hair is exponentially harder than doing long hair. Burning my fingers, my scalp and my neck have just become expected occurrences every morning. Somebody came over to pick something up that they bought from @shoptheunicorn, and I literally begged her to teach me how she did her cute short hairdo. Turns out going 14 years with long hair really stifles your hair skills development.

This weekend started off with a bang when my sister chopped off 14 inches of my hair and restored my blonde per marcus' pleading requests. I'm loving it so far, although, I'm still getting used to seeing my new self in the mirror. I'm sure there will be a bit of a learning curve when it comes to styling it--seeing as I haven't had short hair since i was 8! So feel free to send me any advice if you're an experienced short-haired girl :)

It's definitely a fun change and marcus is making it all the more fun, every time i look at him he's on the verge of giddy laughter, he loves it so much. He makes me feel good. I'm lucky.

Today I'm in bed with a nasty cold--the kind that keeps you up all night. I'm hoping it will pass quickly! I have too many things I want to accomplish this week. Feeling miserable sure is the pits!

I fried my hair last week by putting blonde back in the ends--i don't know that i'll ever go back to blonde. I'm thinkin' it's time to chop the locks and dye it back to red. I've been pinning ideas, but if anyone's seen any really great haircuts, put the links in the comments. i have a pretty heart shaped face, so i don't know if short hair will exaggerate that or minimize it, i haven't had short hair since 3rd grade when i got my waist-length hair cut to my chin. 

when i got home i went up to my dad and kept tucking my hair behind my ears as i asked, "notice anything different?????" he looked out me for a minute before he answered...."did you get your ears pierced?"

ya, he wasn't the most observant of fathers, but he's grown a lot since then and we love him :)

I wanted to thank everyone that commented/emailed/tweeted suggestions for Europe! I tried to respond to everyone, but lots of you don't have your email connected to your blogger name, so I couldn't email you back--i did respond in the comments though. Anyway, thanks again!

Today after church I've got to lock myself in my room and make myself pack!   If I'm lucky, I'll get done in time to sneak in a little break to watch the new episode of Granite Flats.

  I made this hair tutorial after watching the show and admiring the  hair and costuming! There  are so many things I'm grateful for about being born when i was, especially as a woman, but sometimes i  see 'period pieces' and i just really wish i could have lived back when you always had your hair perfectly done and dresses and petticoats were the norm :)

So You Think You Can Dance has sucked me in to another season. 

I haven't watched since the second season, but one day i got bored, watched one, and now i'm HOOKED!

Everytime i see that show i start hating myself for not being a dancer. they really, really do blow my mind. 

There's a blonde girl who made it to the top 20 that i think is probably the most gorgeous blonde i've ever seen in my life.

i'm kind of obsessed with her. mostly her hair. its crazy, big, natural (i assume) curls and i almost want to scalp her and stick it on my head. that, or get a perm.

obviously one of those is a way better idea than the other. i'm just trying to figure out which...

but seriously, am i crazy for wanting a perm?

i know, i know, but have you seen the girl i'm talking about? 

can you blame me!?

i need that hair!

until i get brave enough i guess i'll just have to rely on my hana salon flat irons.

I've finally figured out how to do the flat ironscurl and i've found it lasts a lot longer than my curling iron curls. So until i get a perm, this will do.

{Wardrobe} Wednesday: Big Cats

 I don't know if you've noticed, but I cut bangs a few weeks ago. 

Probably the worst decision of my life. That's a slight hyperbole, but still...I'm just too lazy in the mornings to get up the extra 20 minutes it would take me to fight my stubborn cowlick to actually make these bangs lay like they did when my sister cut them. Too bad. Hair grows back. 

Maybe I'll finally learn that bangs are not my talent like they are for Jenni. Bless her.

When my mother-in-law saw me in this she said I looked like a Greek Goddess.

When my father-in-law saw me he said I looked like an Egyptian princess.

Little did they know that what I was really going for was simply a hair-do that would cover up my greasy unwashed mane and an outfit that felt most like I was wearing a bathrobe, but would also be acceptable in the post office, grocery store, and an evening restaurant.
