12.22.2011

Our good friend Ty recently proposed a weekly cinema night.
We of course said YES.
Because, one, we like Ty and the other members of the 'club' (Sierra, Lauren, Ted, and Mac the dog)
And two, because we like movies.
Watching movies with other people is especially fun, other than the fact that you can't shamelessly snuggle--but this too has it's perks, because then you actually WATCH the movie...
Each person is assigned a week that they are responsible for choosing the movie, and every night is a jammie party.
This week it was Marcus' turn to choose, so he picked Sixty Six
We had watched it before and really loved it.
It was well-acted, quite hilarious, beautifully shot, and incredibly touching in a rather quirky way.
I implore you to get together with friends (preferable one's that have Netflix because it's on instant play) and enjoy this charming little film.
There's a chance Marcus cried...just a bit.

{Tunes} on Tuesday Featuring: Waiting for Guffman

11.08.2011

While watching an edited Waiting for Guffman this weekend a scene came on where they were eating Chinese food. It was almost 10 o'clock at night and Marcus and I turned to each other suddenly ravenous with hunger. We immediately called Kwan's Sampan and they said they's stay open late so we would have time to pick up some food! Haha clearly we have no self-control. Thanks Lauren for introducing us to the goodness of Kwan's.
How are you effected by the visuals of food?

Here is our favorite scene from the movie, which also qualifies as my {tunes} on tuesday for today:

here's a link to a better quality version, but it won't let me embed it here.
I die a thousand deaths when i watch this.

In preparation of an upcoming celebration...

10.19.2011

We've renewed our Netflix membership and intend on getting our moneys worth this month!
Here's a few of my very favorite, very Halloween appropriate movies:

1. The Fantastic Mr. Fox--the color story throughout this truly charming and hilarious movie is oh-so-fall-fantastic!
2. What Lies Beneath--Scariest movie of my life! Harrison Ford, I could never look at him the same again...
3. Hocus Pocus--When I was a kid, my best friend/cousin Bridgie and I would watch this year-round, but I always look forward to this season, because it's always replaying on TV! So, so, so good!
4. Wait Until Dark--so thrilling! You're on the edge of your seat the entire time.
5. The Birds--haven't seen it, but I'm absolutely TERRIFIED of birds, I really have vivid and horrifying nightmares about them dive-bombing me and everyone keeps telling me I must see this, so this is the year I try and face that phobia.
6. The Village--This is one of Marcus' favorites and I think I need to give it another watch, only saw it once in the theater...

Do You Have an Must-Sees in Preparation for All Hallows Eve?!

is this what happens to married people?

8.31.2011

I finally got Marcus to go to Blockbuster with me and get this Bagley Household Classic, and we put it in, he loves it, he's laughing, I'm happy.
We get half way through and I realize I no longer hear laughter, and then I see this:
Poor guy, works so hard, he can no longer stay up past 10pm...I guess we're grown-ups or something.

And when I say "we're" I mostly just mean Marcus.

{Tunes} on Tuesday Featuring: Dirty Dancing

6.21.2011

It's officially Summertime and now that I'm married, this is all I want to do.

All. Summer. Long.
(because married people are allowed to do this sort of thing:))
and if I have to drink a few more of these, I guess i wouldn't mind too much...

What Are You Looking Forward to About Summer?

{Tunes} on Tuesday Featuring: The Temper Trap

5.17.2011

Marcus and I wore driving around town during the Golden Hour (the hour before sunset) in awe at the beauty of the world.
The weather was perfection, so the windows were down and we were happy little larks.

I felt like we were in that all-to-wonderful train scene from 500 Days of Summer.
So I grabbed my handy dandy iphone, youtubed this song, and we played pretend in our car.
I believe in making a soundtrack to our lives, and that was one of those times.

quinze.

2.15.2011

Nothing particularly particular.
That's how I can best describe the contents of today.

We had a super romantic valentines last night...well, unless you don't find Craigo's pizza buffet and Rocky Balboa in the basement super romantic. I, personally, get weak in the knees at the slightest mention of the combo.
But really, have you seen that movie?
I've never seen the Rocky series, so last night as we hunted for something to watch I picked it out (afterall, they ARE classics and I sort of feel unAmerican because I haven't seen them).
Since it didn't have a number after it's title, we figured it was the first (which is usually a good place to start, no?).
When we got home and realized he looked pretty old in the movie we felt a little betrayed--like Horkley's movie rental had tricked us or something. In fact we almost turned it off and went to bed.
Thank heavens we didn't!
Turns out it was a great movie, with some really funny lines and extremely genuine acting.
I think we'll go back for the original Rocky series later this week, so that I can finally become a full fledged American citizen, but if you get a chance, I really do recommend Rocky Balboa.
In case you're wondering I hated my {top-knot} today.
Marcus had a bad hair day today too.
I have a feeling our hair consciences fell in love with each other last night while were sleeping and took off an a secret lover's holiday, hopefully they'll be back soon, so we won't have to struggle with conscienceless hair for the rest of our lives.
Although, it is pretty romantic that my hair fell in love with Marcus' hair ON Valentines Day,
what are the chances?

What About You, Did You Have a Particularly Particular Day???

I'm on the Grid.

Dear Tron Legacy,

I had some serious reservations about attending you. Somehow, you just didn't look like my-kind-of-movie. However, my husband was giddy about your techno-nostalgic-wonder; so, I humored him by going. While your story had some holes, some of your lines were cringe worthy, and your characters' lack of urgency when faced with the destruction of the natural world left me feeling rather perplexed. You weren't quite as silly as I expected, your computer-animated Jeff Bridges was uncannily realistic, and, well, there's a chance that I've been pretending to ride a light-stick motorcycle…everywhere I go. Seriously, give me one of those.

PoP! Goes My Heart

11.19.2010

Marcus and I watched Music & Lyrics two nights ago and this song has been stuck in one of both of our heads since. What's strange is that neither of us care; it's absurdity is just still so amusing.
It was Marcus's first time seeing the movie and when this song came on,
he got really excited and said, "Oh man, I love this 80s song."
It was pronounced with such sincerity that he almost had me convinced that it was a real hit from the 80s. He was really distraught when I Googled it, and found that it, of course,
was not, in actuality, around in the 80s. Should have been though.

We mostly enjoy finding times we can say, "Hey hon (really seriously, so that they think you going to say something important)...you're gold AND silver."
I wonder when it's going to get old?
