good vs. evil

6.16.2011

I have been the recipient of many real and virtual unicorn gifts, and I truly delight in each one of them, but wow--when this treasure showed up in the mail from my hilarious 'second family' in utah, i died a little bit.
One because, well, i love getting mail, and two because with all my unicorn knowledge, i still had NO idea about this Destructicorn character!
I thought all unicorns were good, but my eyes have been opened and reality hit hard.

Granny Ash.

4.04.2011

I got this shirt from Buffalo exchange whilst in Arizona last week.
I bought it with the intention of altering it before I wore it, but I just got too excited about the pattern and here I am today wearing the over-sized granny blouse.
Someday I'll get around to making it fit me, until then I'll just embrace the flow.
When I walked into the school library just about everybody's head turned--these conservative kids still haven't gotten used to me...and since we're out of here in about a week, I'm pretty sure they never will.

In other news, this may be my favorite new do.
I just invented it.
This may or may not be true--I'm sure someone out there has done it already...but since I am ignorant to who that person is, I shall say that, yes, I just invented it.
While i was taking this picture, check out what i spotted:
they seek me out, i tell you!
The Breakdown:
Nerd Glasses: Forever21 $6
Feather Earrings: Forever21 $3
Polka Dot Blouse: Vintage $5
Leopard Skinny Belt: Forever21 $4
Orange Skirt: Anthropologie Sale $29
T-Strap Flats: Steve Madden via Ross $9ish

A is for Ashley and...

3.10.2011

Let me tell you the story of today.
Now, let me first start off by telling you that most people would probably not believe this story, but seeing as you subscribe to a blog that is dedicated to believing in somewhat unbelievable things, I am making the assumption that I can tell you without fear of mockery. Here goes.

I had just gotten home from a long, stressful and somewhat unproductive day at the library when I looked out the window into our backyard. It was then that a rather large furry creature was seen.
Upon further analysis, it was decided to be none other than Mr. Groundhog himself. He was barely peeping out from under our porch holding something slender and wooden in his tiny groundhoggy hand. When suddenly, a flash of light, and poof--he was gone.

But then something amazing started to happen--the snow that had covered our lawn all winter long began to melt at a rapid pace.
I ran outside in sheer amazement and that’s when I noticed this:
"A is for Abracadabra"
I was absolutely giddy, for many reasons:
1. I like the idea of Rexburg melting,
2. I had just seen an animal celebrity, who turns out to be magic,

AND
3. I had been wanting a print that happens to look a lot like this magical incantation. I had seen it in this cute etsy shop called TWIG. So if you want one, and you don’t have a magical groundhog living under your porch, don’t fret. Just take a virtual stroll on over to the etsy shop.

I sure hope he comes back, and this time I hope his hocus pocus involves putting a mustache on Mr. Moose who lives in our forest, because I really want the “M is for Mustache” Print available here.

I always have the dandiest things happen to me--and hey, I’m not complaining! I guess that’s what happens when you’re the kind of girl who blogs about unicorns…

Christmas Gifts Received
Over My Life Time:
(from my parents)
When I was about 9 years old, all I wanted was a puppy for Christmas. I was about half way through unwrapping presents when someone rang our doorbell holding this basket full of blankets. They told me to answer it. The guy holding the basket lifted the blanket to reveal this tiny ball of fluff. At first I thought it was a guinea pig and as hard as i tried to act gracious, i did not want a rodent...Once I realized my puppy dreams were coming true I burst into tears. It was so exciting!
2.Vintage Record Play
(from one of my best friends in High School)
This gift was awesome. My friend found this record player at the thrift store, he bought it for me, refinished it, fixed the needle, got me records, and snuck it into my room so I would be totally surprised. I still love it!
3. 1970s Mood Ring
(from my sister, Leisel)
In high school I wanted to mood-ring so bad, but all the ones you can buy now are sort of cheezy in my opinion, so i was always looking, never satisfied.
Then one year I got this small box from Leisel and when I opened it I was so surprise! Not only did I love the ring, but even more I loved that she knew how much i wanted one. I had no idea she knew. It was really special. She's such a good sister.
4. Vintage Hawkeye Brownie Camera
(from Marcus last year)
This was our first Christmas together and I could tell he was stressed about what to get me. My birthday's in November and he had gotten me this rad present that I was in love with and I could tell he was worried no Christmas present would live up to the standard he had set. I told him he seriously didn't need to get me anything. When he came over Christmas afternoon he handed my this beautifully wrapped box and inside was this darling camera. Needless to say, I was very impressed. He's so good.
(from one of my best friends in college)
I went to the shooting range with a friend and saw this book. It was so funny and I mentioned that I wanted it. Time went on, like along time, and we didn't really see each other anymore. I was in Utah for Christmas that year and the unwrapping was over. Then my sister pointed to the corner of the room. It was "From Santa" but once I opened it, I knew who it was really from. I love thoughtful gifts. They make me cry.

okay, as I was writing this one of my favorite people on the planet dropped this off:
Isn't "Miss" Jenee Wright Prince fantastic?!

Now, Your Turn!
p.s. I just saw this crafty
{top 5} and almost died. That first one???
So cute.
Merry Christmas Eve, Good Luck Wrapping Gifts!

Life's Simple Pleasures

11.12.2010

Ashley: Okay, I have to stay focused. I have to do this assignment. It's due tonight. I'm going to fail this class if I don't just do it.

 {Open assignment. Stare at assignment.
Hate the very thought of doing the assignment.}

Ashley: Gah, I don't want to do this.
Marcus: I don't want to do mine, either.
Ashley: ...I'm gonna do something else.

  {Open new window. Begin "cornifying." Distract marcus with all the sparkles. Laugh together at results.}

Ashley: This is so much better than writing research papers.

{Resign to completing assignment.}

Sometimes I Dream...

10.10.2010

If I were a superhero I would be
Rainbow Girl.
I would ride a Unicorn and blast rainbowbeams of delight and virtue so that villains could not help but find the nearest puppysnuggle it on their faces and then go plant a garden, relinquishing all thoughts of evil.

{It would be good}

What would your superpower be?

p.s. today's 10/10/10! What are you going to do at 10:10 AM/PM????
