Picnic with Stitched

4.20.2016

I've already begun stressing about how I'm going to survive as a mother when summer hits here in Arizona. Simon and I are both happiest when we're outside exploring nature and enjoying God's creations, but when it's 115+ degrees, it's not even safe to spend more than a few minutes outside (besides the fact that it's completely miserable). But I'm trying my best to enjoy the time we still have before summer gets real. Stitched, a new custom design quilt company let me try out their service and I designed this pretty little picnic blanket, so we made the most of the cool evening temps and had a picnic on our back patio, both Simon and Poppy thought it was pretty cool and when they're happy, I'm happy :) I think this blanket will be getting a lot of use!

If you like the quilt I designed or have a design idea of your own, be sure and check out their kickstarter here and see how you can customize your own.

And please share tips how surviving the heat with a kid!

Unicorn Season is Here!

3.14.2016

Happy Spring everyone! We're already hitting temps in the 90s, so it feels like most people's summers round here! I'm not complaining! Spring or as I like to call it, Unicorn Season is my all time favorite here in Arizona. Everything is flowered up and I'm spending as much time as I can outdoors with my little explorer, Simon. I don't know what I'm going to do when it gets to hot to sit out in the grass all day, it's where he's happiest, and in turn, where I'm happiest too! Guess we'll have to plan lots of trips to cooler weather! Where do you live and when's the best place to be there?!

Eat at Matt's

3.18.2015

A few years ago I went to the Japanese Friendship Garden with my photography class and have been wanting to go back with Marcus ever since--last week, at the budding of Spring here in Arizona, we finally made it happen! It was so beautiful and gave us lots of inspiration on what plants grow here that we might not have thought of yet--so now we need to get to a nursery and start planting!

(Arizona folks, do you have a favorite nursery, ours got torn down and I'm SO DEPRESSED over it!)

After a stroll through the garden, we were hungry and since we were so close, I finally got to introduce Marcus to Matt's Big Breakfast! It was late brunch time, so we didn't even have to wait :)

It as just as good or better than I remembered and we can't wait to go back again soon! Their new location is so stinkin' cute!

Insane waffle with homemade strawberry preserves and rosemary potatoes! Awhhhh! And Marcus' sourdough toast slathered in butter. OMG, we talked about it all week.
For Marcus' days off!

Hello friends!
I hope your day is going swell. I'm spending the day cleaning house and grocery shopping--exciting life, I tell you what :)
I've been wanting to give the kimono trend a try and when I saw this bright floral WITH tassels (!) I knew this was the one. I planned on pairing it with a white tee, but when I saw this striped one hanging in my closet, I thought that would really add a punch to the look. I wore this to the cinco de mayo party I mentioned yesterday. Although kimonos have a Japanese history, something about it also reminded me of a Mexican shawl, so I figured it would work.

What do you think? Will you be sporting a kimono this summer?
I'm thinking this could also make a cute swim cover-up!

To me, nothing says Spring and Summer quite like floral print--especially paired with a bright color and a classic stripe--I've gathered up some of my favorite florals to get you in the mood--just scroll through and click on anything that tickles your fancy!

Listening to the Wind.

5.07.2014

We've been enjoying unusually windy, cool days and I'm basically in heaven about it. I've been spending my mornings out in the garden I planted at my moms, watering the plants, taking care of weeds and pests, and eating fist-fulls of fresh blackberries. I wish I could live in a life of eternal springtime! I am happy.
What have you been enjoying lately?
