vampires of the city.

10.02.2013

Back in August I gave Marcus Vampire Weekend tickets for his birthday. Last weekend the time had finally come to redeem them. I've featured them in past {Tunes} on Tuesday because, frankly, I love them. I have so many fond memories that were accompanied by one of their songs or albums. We listened to them a lot when we were dating up in Idaho and Horchata was like our honeymoon theme songs--which now that I type that out, it sounds a lot more personal that it is. Basically it was just on repeat on Marcus' ipod that was in our rental car in Hawaii.
The first time I ever heard Vampire Weekend I was immediately reminded of Paul Simon--he's my all time, so, it was love at first listen. It was a dream to see them live, and with the boy I enjoyed so many of their songs with.
Life is good. So is marriage.
I'm a fan of both.
What are you excited for this October!?
It's a great month, we're hoping to sneak away on a quick trip :)

{Tunes} on Tuesday: Vampire Weekend

9.06.2011

What we all need a little more of are floating transparent head overlays in modern day music videos.
So thank you Vampire weekend, thank you for filling that void.
Also, this is one of the strangest videos I've seen in a long time.

What Song Epitomizes Summer to You?

festival style

4.25.2014

Not sure that I'll be going to any music festivals this summer, but that won't keep me from playing with the styles from it.

Speaking of music, what's the greatest concert you've ever been to? Isn't it the best when you're there and the artist is creating the music right in front of you and they actually sound good live? It's pretty magical and for it, it makes hearing the song later, forever different and special because you can remember the time, the artists were in front of you, playing that song live.

We've been to some pretty great shows, but Vampire Weekend and Bon Iver were definitely two highlights.

eight tips for hawaii.

3.26.2013

tip #1//if you go to get matsumoto's shave ice and the line is insane, the shaved ice place next door is just as delicious and huge (these are kids sizes!).
tip #2//get ice-cream at the bottom.
tip #3//when in hawaii, drink it up, look in all directions at all times--everywhere you look is somehow prettier than the last.
tip #4//never be sad about the rain, because you have this to look forward to.
tip #5//make a mix for the trip, only listen to said mix, then everytime you listen to those songs back at home, you'll be transported back (in your mind) to that grand adventure.
Vampire Weekend was our honeymoon soundtrack the first time we went to hawaii!
tip #6//if you ever have the chance to move to hawaii and become a cowgirl, take the grand opportunity--the country is just as pretty as the beach out there!
tip #7//eat at least this much ted's bakery pie.
tip #8//go to hawaii!
 miss it already.

{Tunes} on Tuesday Featuring: Vampire Weekend

12.21.2010

Right after we got married, Marcus and I were OBSESSED with this song.
One day we were driving around Mesa and I said, "Hey, can we drink Horchata in December?"
He said, "Ya."
So I just had to wait patiently for this day to come.
Then we got kicked out for taking pictures inside the store.
Ha! Oh well, at least I got my Horchata.

If You Live In/Near Mesa,
I Implore You to Go Get The Horchata From
'The Ranch Market' on Stapley and Southern.
Divine!
