In preparation of an upcoming celebration...

10.19.2011

We've renewed our Netflix membership and intend on getting our moneys worth this month!
Here's a few of my very favorite, very Halloween appropriate movies:

1. The Fantastic Mr. Fox--the color story throughout this truly charming and hilarious movie is oh-so-fall-fantastic!
2. What Lies Beneath--Scariest movie of my life! Harrison Ford, I could never look at him the same again...
3. Hocus Pocus--When I was a kid, my best friend/cousin Bridgie and I would watch this year-round, but I always look forward to this season, because it's always replaying on TV! So, so, so good!
4. Wait Until Dark--so thrilling! You're on the edge of your seat the entire time.
5. The Birds--haven't seen it, but I'm absolutely TERRIFIED of birds, I really have vivid and horrifying nightmares about them dive-bombing me and everyone keeps telling me I must see this, so this is the year I try and face that phobia.
6. The Village--This is one of Marcus' favorites and I think I need to give it another watch, only saw it once in the theater...

I hate Halloween however The Village is one of my all time favorite movies. So clever! The music in it is brilliant (how I wish I could play the violin like that) and one of my favorite quotes is from this movie 'the world moves for love, it kneels before it in awe'.

I have a bird phobia as well!! I vowed not to watch that movie.

Love all of those. Arsenic and The Old Lace is a must see for Halloween. Cary Grant is all I need to say about it. And The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. The best.

I love Netflix! I've been trying to summon up enough courage to watch Hocus Pocus this year. As a child, that movie gave me such bad nightmares. I mean, how is that a kid movie? The dude cuts his stitched mouth open with a knife? I don't know, maybe I'm just a weenie :p

I tried finding Hocus Pocus on Netflix streaming the other day and was so sad to discover it's only available on DVD.  I think this might be the year that I finally just up and buy it.

Have you seen Watcher in the Woods? It's another Disney one but scary enough that one time my date fell off the couch at a jumpy part.

Zombieland! It's great. Very fitting for the 31st. Have a party and serve spooktacular treats. People will gobble them up. Muahaha

NETFLIXFORLIFE. I'm obsessed with the service--really I am. I assume you get DVD's? I only have instant view and I don't think hardly any of the above are available. Boo. I totally haven't seen Hocus Pocus in like five years. It's happening this year.

I would definitely have to agree with Wait Until Dark. So good, thrilling, genius and plus, Audrey Hepburn... Need we say more? Also, have you ever seen The Burbs? Tom Hanks has some great outfits in that movie. Just sayin.

What Lies Beneath was seriously my scariest movie EVER. No one believes me when I say this, but there is something that left me sleeping in my mom's bed for weeks after watching. And yes, I was 14. Hahaha.
