Day Four: Fairy Forest, WA

I couldn't leave our Washington adventure without talking about our tromp in the fairy forest we found on the side of an Issaquah road--just as we pulled off, a light rain started coming down, which set the mood for fairy hunting! Water nymphs love hiding deep in thick tree moss and under oversized fallen leaves, so we overturned them all and caught just a few lucky glimpses of the elusive creatures :)

As a long time lover of green, my eyes left the forest refreshed and very happy with our stop.

No Trespassing

I'm still working on uploading and editing my europe pictures. as you can imagine--there are wayyyyy too many, but i figured I should finish off my hawaii pics from back in February while we waited.

On one of our last days in Hawaii, Bridgette took us on a beautiful hike that lead us to an even prettier waterfall. The water was icy cold, so instead of swimming around like we had planned, we just jumped in for a quick good-luck kiss under the waterfall--is it just me, or do all waterfalls remind you of Disney's Robin Hood? As a child, that scene was the most romantic thing I'd ever beheld.

After working some calories off, naturally we had to replenish--so we had our first taste of Malasadas--which ended with us in jealous tears, because we wouldn't get to have them again until we returned to Hawaii. Seriously, why don't these exist on ever corner? Has anyone had these? HEAVEN!

It's sad to say, but one of my favorite things about travel is getting to eat new places.

Stormy Weather

There's something terribly wonderful about sunsets.
It's just that right when they're perfect, they change...into something perfectly different.
Sunset watching is an ideal activity for both the pensive and the short-attention spanned.
You get a new and thought inducing show every few minutes--seconds, really.

Sunsets, like life--how fleeting, how fine.

A Lovers Holiday.

When Ma Nielson offered us a free night at any Marriott we packed our bags and took a little lovers holiday to Prescott, Arizona.

Why Prescott, you ask?

Well it may have had something to do with this story over at Sometimes Sweet...

After seeing that pictures and knowing such a wonderful story to go along with it, I just had to see it in person, and let me tell you, Hank picked a dang good place to pop the question (congrats on your 3year)!

It was such a charming little town with good eats, cute streets, ideal weather, and the MOST amazing antique shops EVER! 

(I got a beautiful 1960s scarf that I can not wait to wear for just $5!)

Plus, the Main Street is called Gurley Street. I couldn't get over the cuteness of that.

Prescott also happens to be the place that Ma Nielson spent some years of her childhood in, so we got to stop by her house and talk to the current resident. 

She turned out to be an elderly lady who was in need of some company, so she invited us in and we spent a lot more time than we had anticipated just visiting with her. How lovely it was.

I'm happy to live in a state with such treasure so near!

 Aye yi yi, thank you sweet friends who suggested we eat at the Haunted Burger. 

I'm not a big meat eater, but I've been having the strangest burger cravings this month, and this delicious burger+twice-baked potato really hit the spot!

Marcus' steak fries were also some of the best I've ever had!

Hopefully someday we'll get to stay at this hotel during the Halloween season. 

My favorite holiday+friends+haunted hotel=well, you do the math.

We stopped in at the brothel-turned-gift-shop, but um, turns out there's still some pretty scandalous stuff in there. So if you're ever in Jerome, enter at your own risk... 

Marcus and I really enjoyed our Thrifty's ice-cream cone (perhaps the best mint-chip I've ever had)

But not as much as Ted enjoyed his. It was like a love affair going on with him and that cone.

Lauren and Ted wore matching beatles shirts while Marcus and I wore matching Sperries.

Aren't we just the cutest couple of couples?

Or maybe just the dorkiest...

This restaurant was built in the 1880's and everything is still original expect for the counter-top. It was so charming and if we ever go back to Jerome, I vote we patronize this place.

On our way home Ted, Lauren, Marcus and I pulled off at this little shop that had billboards for it's "Famous Pies" and seeing as it was my half birthday, it only seemed reasonable that the four of us just have at an entire coconut cream pie. It was delicious and we had no shame.

What a great trip with great friends.
