gettin' down on the farm//

(vintage inspired swimsuit from BevSwim--here)
seeing animals interact with other animals is so amusing.
this mastiff was so desperate to play with poppy he was crawling on the ground in an effort to show he could be small and nice.
Poppy wasn't risking it.
one of my favorite 'fall' memories coming home to a giant bowl full of sliced peaches in cream. my mom is never one to be accused of skimping on any of the good stuff, so although Utah peaches are just about as perfect as they get, she still worked a little magic on them and old friends still talk about craving a bowl of my mom's peaches and cream.

it's that time again where us Arizonans stand in 30 minute lines in someone's carport to buy a crate full of fresh Utah peaches and if the crate wasn't kept at my mom's house (only 2 minutes away) i'm pretty peaches would be all i lived on for the next month. As it is, I drive over there at least once a day to get my fix. They truly are perfect.

A few month's ago, Marcus and I heard about the Peach Festival and pick-your-own peaches down at Schepf Farm so we took Poppy and had a little adventure wondering around the acres of land, introducing Poppy to the farm animals--she thought it would be nice to give each one a proper face sniffing, and picking a bag of peaches. They were not as good as Utah peaches but it was fun none-the-less. We went straight to the pool after we were done (it was horrendously hot that day, as usual) and picked up some chocolate croissants from our friends at Proof.

So, where are you from?
What's your State's specialty?
Here in Arizona we have AMAZING citrus!
I'm serious, I'd love to hear, so I know what I need to try if I ever find myself in your home state.

here in northern california, i guess its not a state thing, but the sourdough bread is amazing, kind of what the bay area is known for and i love it!

i don't understand, why can some places just get produce right, and others not?! and i hear you with NY, i've been there in the dead of summer--death by humidity and the dead of winter--i couldn't move i was so cold! I was made for Hawaii or Southern California I think--i need temperate weather. Are you guys still in NY? I'm trying to convince Marcus to take me back east for fall :)

if you ever come to Spain you'll eat a lot of citrus in summer too! we have great lands for farming anyways, so you can find great vegetables all year 'round.

Ashley, how do you find such adorable clothes all the time? I mean, for real! I need to know! The swimsuit is adorable and I'm probably going to need to order it. And you know I love pictures of Poppy! I'm from Colorado originally, and I'm convinced we have the best sweet corn. In fact: http://www.olathesweetcornfest.com/.

you're so sweet! obviously i spend way too much time looking for it :) that's what i'm here for though, to tell you where i get it, so you have have it too! :) k, marcus and i are dying to get to colorado! when's the best time to visit? and the sweet corn sounds divine :)

Any time is a good time to visit, haha! It just depends what you want to do. Obviously with the flooding, things are a little out of whack over there, but fall is gorgeous, especially Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park (both of which you would love!). Right around now and October, the aspens are gorgeous, and up in Estes, there are all kinds of elk just walking around and bugling. Sadly, a lot of the roads got washed out, so I don't know if you can even get up there! Winter is great if you're into skiing of course, but travel is tricky. Colorado is great because we get all 4 seasons, but there is always sunshine--even in the dead of winter, with lots of snow out, the sun is still bright, and blue skies! Aah, I am getting homesick! You'll love it! I'm from the northern part, but there is great stuff all over the state. Maybe now I'll have to write up a little travel guide post, haha!

It's so funny that you posted about this. I'm from Southern Nevada, but currently live in San Diego and I've been longing for that Southern Nevada Fall!

The specialty where I'm from is pomegranates! They make pomegranate jelly, pomegranate honey, jalapino pomegranate jelly, etc. So yummy on homemade bread!

They hold a Pomegranate Festival (very small) every Fall that I love to go to. You can stock up on jellies and such there and taste test everything.

If you ever find yourself passing Logandale, NV make sure it's in the Fall (preferably during that two day festival) because it's the best.

Here's a link to a sneak peak at the festival.
