The other day I was filling out some paperwork and my age was asked. I looked at the "____" and thought for a moment. This did not shock me, it only seems normal (at least for me) to think for a brief moment about one's age. But then that brief moment passed and the "____" remained a "____" My heart started pounding, was I seriously having this hard of a time remembering my age. This is supposed to happen when you're in your mid-fifties and you've been lying about your age for a good ten years, not when you're in your early twenties!
I continued to sit, in shock and amazement, I knew I was either 22 or 23, but had absolutely no idea which. Finally I googled an age calculator and the answer was revealed to me...in extreme exactness.
It was one of the scariest feelings I've felt all week, and I am determined to keep better track of my age from here on out.
Has this strange phenomena happened to you yet?

Yes. I am almost 41, and my usual response, when asked verbally is '40-something'. Then I remember the year I was born, and work forward in decades from there. On forms, I look at my D.O.B., and work forward.
This happened to me this week too! And I just happened to also write a blog post about it :)

YES! A couple of years ago, I ran out to the corner deli to get a few beers for the apartment (company coming). I had only grabbed a $20, so when I was IDed I said, "Sorry, I don't have anything else on me." So the nice lady asked me, "Well, how old are you?"
*cricket. cricket.*
I seriously could not remember! Then finally it came to me. "Twenty....four. I'm 24. I am." Now how suspicious does that sound?!
Yeah, 24. Right, I'm sure she thought.
So embarrassing!
I thought I was the only one that happened too! I will always feel and think like I am 21 even though I am 26, I guess I am just a youngin at heart forever! oh well, C'est la vie.
yes, and even worse, i've answered "19" or "20" when i was already 23 or 24... i feel so young i just don't think i'm getting older hahaha
every now and then I'll forget my age which makes me think I'm gonna be one of those people who becomes VERy forgetful early on..
This has happened to me numerous times! I think I got to the point where it doesn't matter as much anymore. No one asks you your age once you are an adult! When you are a kid everyone you come in contact with asks you your age like that is all they can think to talk to you about. HAHA! The only thing I can say is that you are not alone and it might get worse as you get older! hehe!
This happened to me a couple weeks ago. Someone in the grocery store thought I was in high school and when I told them I graduated from college 2 years ago they asked me how old I was. I thought about it for a second and said 25. I walked off and realized that I'm only 24. lol
That is so funny! I did this the other day when someone asked me how old I was, I replied quickly 20 (I'm 21 turing 22 in a week). Maybe I'll just stick to always saying 20 to avoid further embarassment. If you do it on purpose it's probably not so bad, right?
YES. I'm not the only one. I often forget if I am still 21 or if I have already turned 22. It's probably even worse that my 23rd birthday is almost upon me.
YES! It started happening to me at about 25. I have a theory about it, too. I think as you get older, you just don't think about your age as much. When you're young, age is everything: you live for turning 16, 18, 21, etc. Things HAPPEN when you turn certain ages. It's an important part of your life! But as you get older, it's all kind of the same. The milestone birthdays are few and far between, and no one asks you anymore how old you are. It just doesn't matter as much! So I think it's perfectly normal to have to stop and say, "Well, I'm...hold on a sec..."
