Last week my father in law found 3 baby kittens, dead, on the side of our yard. Now, like I've said, I am not a cat person, but I am a life person and it broke my heart to think of those tender little lives--gone.
From the frail size of them, Pa Nielson assumed them to have starved. A few days later I saw two survivors. My heart leapt and I knew I needed to put out a little food and water for the kitties. At first they were very bashful, but now this one especially comes running within a minute of the bowls being set. I just sit by the door and watch, it's one of my favorite new forms of entertainment. I don't care how much you hate cats, if you hate kittens you might not have a soul.
This little one is the one in most dire state, he‘s (we don‘t really know what gender it is, but Marcus calls it Tiny Tim, so we say he) only about an inch wide around his hips. The other seemed to learn how to hunt on it’s own and looks quite a bit healthier (is it possible that he's eating butterflies?).
I sure hope this little baby can gain a little weight.
Cat People, do you have any suggestions?
As for this watch, it’s from Mimi’s The Look and I am OBSESSED! I wear it almost everyday and get so many compliments on it. It looks like all those insanely expensive ones, but if you happen to lose it or something you won’t have to put a mortgage on your house to buy another. It’s already a great price, but with this code you can even get an extra good deal.
Have a great week, it’s half way over!

Aw! I love kitties! They make special cat foods to help cats gain weight at a healthy pace, which you can get from your local vet, maybe even a pet store or grocery store. When my cat got sick and lost a ton of weight, we gave him soft food which plumped him up pretty well, too. Good luck!
I love this post! The kittens just made my morning :) Love the necklace too!
poor kitties! i'm definitely a cat person and this makes me so sad! my advice: keep feeding them, but don't put out too much food. they're likely to overeat and just barf it up. he looks old enough to be okay without his mom now, though, so that's good.
i have a stray that hangs out in my backyard often. she's about a year old and she eats moths, so maybe your little kitty is eating butterflies! and concerning gender, you'll probably be able to tell in a few weeks. when they're that little, it's harder, especially if you can't get close to them yet. if its butt looks like a semicolon, it's a boy, and if it looks like a colon, it's a girl. weird, i know, but it's easy to remember!
aw this is so sad and cute at the same time. are you going to take in the kitteh and raise it as your own? it's kind of like fox and the hound...
Good for you! We get kittens dumped on our property frequently and it's so hard not to adopt them all. Just remember, once you start feeding it, it's going to stay. But if I understand the the size of the Nielson ranch, that won't matter too much :) Also, cats are allergic to milk, that's my one piece of good advice.
I'm more of a dog person than a cat person but a kitty is pretty hard to resist... So is any animal in need. I'm so happy that you are taking care of these two!
aw that's so sad!!! i'll take him!!!!
poor cat =(
I. Love. This. LOOK!!!!! Perfect. And I love kitties............

humane society for sure. They will neuter them which will prevent future dead kitties and give them the nutrition little kitties need!
I was never ever a cat person either until we found out we couldnt have a dog in our apartment...so we got a cat. I am sooo smitted with her, like seriously madly in love with this cat! She cuddles so much, kisses, purrs, so sweet!.
BUT, she was really really sick like 2 weeks into us having her. She was tiny and wasnt eating (and what she was eating, all came out of her quickly and grossly). The vet's gave her some meds but also recommended Nutri-Cal: Kitten for her. It's like calories and vitamins in a toothpaste jar! You put a big quarter amount on your finger and have them lick it up. Maebel is soo much better now, so you should try it with your new kits! Its like $12 at Petco/Petsmart and totally worth it. Maeby practically pounces me the second she sees me getting the jar out!
Awww he's precious! I didn't think I was a cat person either until I got my two cats and now I can't imagine what I'd do without them! I would definitely bring them to a (no-kill) humane society because they may have parasites or some kind of disease that is preventing them from gaining weight. They'll probably have them get checked by a vet so that they can get the proper nutrition they need. Good luck! :)
my family just 'adopted' their second stray cat. at first she was really bashful and not accustomed to humans at all. my dad (being the lovely man that he is) made it his mission to get her healthy and to gain some weight. (she was also way skinny). she would be so happy to see him with food, but would actually hiss because she didn't know what else to do. poor kitty. my dad would feed her about four times a day. twice in the morning twice in the evening. she would eat over double what our other cat gets a day. he would put a heaping 1/4 cup of food in her dish and mix it with a little soft food to make it more appetizing for her. she has since gained some weight and stolen our hearts. we've never been cat people either so to look back on our experiences it's kind of funny, but definitely worth it.
