Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!

Lydia & Beetlejuice.
So, this morning I rolled out of bed and wandered over to my closet for something to wear.
I saw this lush, purple silk dress with the tags still attached, and I knew that was what I needed to adorn me this day. The problem was, it's cold outside and the dress is cap sleeve.
I had this bright idea to pair it with a long sleeve shirt, serving a variety of purposes, making the outfit more cozy, and more interesting
I got all dressed, did my hair up, like Marcus loves it, and felt very satisfied. So I took some pictures that I could post
{For Fashion's Sake} Saturday.
Later, I was downstairs doing homework when i heard the garage door open. I love that sound.
It means my hubby is home from school!
I got up from the couch, all ready to greet him, and hear him tell me how cute I looked in my new dress, with my hair up, just like he loves it.
The door flung open and we hugged and kissed, and then he pulled away to say something nice, right? Wrong.
Here are the first words out of his mouth:

"Hey, you look like Beetlejuice."

Huh, Come again? What? Did I just hear you say, "Hey, you look as pretty as a princess?" or "Hey, purple is my favorite color on you." or "Hey, I love it when you do your hair like that, you look like a sexy french woman."
No, no, it was none of those lovelies, it was most definitely,

"Hey, you look like Beetlejuice."

From the obvious look of shock on my face, he tried for a save,

"...but you look way cuter than Beetlejuice. It's just your outfit, it looks like Beetlejuice's outfit."

Nope, nope. The attempted save was a fail.

He continued to try and reassure me that he thought I looked cute, but I just couldn't fathom how "cute" and "Beetlejuice" could ever go together--I mean, I had watched a lot of Beetlejuice as a kid and all I could remember about him were his knarly teeth, his scragly hair
his bulging yellow eyes
Maybe if he would have told me I looked like Lydia, I could have managed.
After all, she's kind of cute in a weird, gothic sort of way-- but no, I was Beetlejuice, a zombie from beyond the grave. Cool.

When I got to school, I googled Beetlejuice and, well,
Check Back This Saturday And Tell Me If the Outfit Works,
or If All You Can See is Beetlejuice...

  1. awww...that breaks my heart!
It heart when your hubs says something about your outfit. It just isn't the same even when they try to make up for it. How sweet that he tried though!
From what I can tell it looks really cute!

  5. Welcome to married life. It's happened to all of us. :)

Marcus, be careful what you blurt out in front of your lovely wife!

Ashley, just know it's going to happen.... men are just dumb sometimes, but we love them anyway. I always have to remind myself.... Jay knows nothing about women's fashion.
