well that was sort of the best.

About two weeks ago i got to witness and document one of the most--probably the most amazing thing i've ever seen--i got to see my best friend and big sister bring a new life into a room.
it was an event that i had never imagined wanting to see--hospitals make me queezy and blood (literally) makes me pass out. But when Leisel invited me to photograph her delivery i got unexpectedly excited. I had been there up to the last few minutes before she delivered her last daughter 5 years ago and she seemed so calm and nearly pain-free so i (and she thought) this would be a relatively trauma-less experience for me.
Unfortunately this time the epidural didn't have time to fully kick in before the baby was ready to arrive, so there was a lot more screaming, crying and pain than anyone was expecting (although i'll spare her and not post those photos).
It was very emotional to see my sister in so much pain, especially knowing that she wasn't prepared for it, but somehow seeing it happen, made me so much less terrified to do it myself someday. Especially once that little human comes into the world and its such an incredibly heavenly experience.
I could feel God's love in that room, watching over His children--the big and small ones.
What a miracle it was and how incredible our bodies are for being able to aid in the process of creating and bringing lives into this world.
We just love baby J so much, and we hardly even know him yet (seeing as he's ALWAYS asleep.)
Of course I'm far too impatient and can't wait for him to grow up a bit so we can talk and laugh together, but for now there's just a lot of snuggling going on.
And i can handle that too.

This is such a great photo shoot. And I loved the maternity shots you took of her earlier! It also makes me a little less nervous to do it myself in 2 months. I'm freaking out a little :)

I love him already! And I have to laugh at how fancy Sterling looks during the delivery. Ted was totally in a tshirt, jeans and slippers! hahaha
