My dress code is red and black only. Wow, am I sick of red and black. Oh, and I can't get away with wearing all-black or vice versa. It has to be one piece of each. Feels like Halloween every day!

PS. Long-time lurker, first time commenter :)

That's a lot of rules.  Anthro's was pretty easy.  No athletic shoes.  Don't dress like a hoochie.  When I started you couldn't wear denim, but even that changed.  I need to consult with you on the J.Crew aesthetic.  What are you up to this weekend?

May be a code breaker but it is very cute!

What kind of a crazy dress code is that?

love those flats - so cute!

I'm confused. You have to wear cardigans? And if you wear jeans you have to have a blazer? your nails have to have color polish. Sounds like you work at a prison. A prison of beautiful, beautiful, awesome things.

What CAN you wear at work!???

wait so what are you aloud to wear? it sounds like they want you to show up naked to work. that is one strict dress code.

I worked for anthropologie around this time last year after graduating, so I've been sympathizing with your work posts the last few months. Especially having to wake up early to clean the store for some bigwig you won't meet. Anyway, the similarities stop here! At anthro the only rules (that I remember) were: no cutoff shorts, no lingerie-as-clothing, and no foam shower flip-flops (more substantial flip flops were okay).

The dress code above sounds to me like they are trying to get their employees to only be wearing J.Crew. Bummer. You should apply to work at Anthro instead! :-D

We have to wear khaki pants and a monogrammed polo shirt. It's comfortable but not at all appealing.

That is so weird! Why did they make those changes?! You basically can't wear anything! I wonder how long those changes will last.

That honestly sounds ridiculous; that's worse than normal businesses! (we're only not allowed to wear jeans/sandals, although thankfully I work from home so it's PJs for me. haha)

WHAT?!? That's impossible. No cardigans?

Highheelsandbubblegum said...

WHAT?!?  I wouldn't be able to wear most my clothes!  Where do you work??

I am still seriously shocked by this - even after reading about it on your Twitter the other day. Is it to make you all look uniform/"upscale" for the holidays or something?! So batty!

(My dress code is nothing special - basically I can wear anything besides heels of any kind and ripped denim. But my coworkers make my life so miserable with their comments if I wear a skirt or dress of any kind, I've basically come up with my own dress code haha.)

I have no idea what i'd wear with that dress code!! Good luck. Who knew j crew was so strict?

WOW! That is the MOST specific dress code I've ever heard of!!!! Hardly fair, considering your rule-breaking outfit looks amazing. I've been lucky with my last two "office" jobs....no strict dress codes....but I'm always the most dressed person there! haha. When I worked at Jacob (Canadian clothing store) back in the day we HAD to wear Jacob clothing only....not that I was complaining with my 50% discount and the fact that it's my favorite store! :)

What are you allowed to wear to work??

So can you wear skirts to work? That's such a weird dress code. How'd they come up with that one?

Amanda Gladd said...

someone had to have really dressed terribly for them to make these rules!

Irene Navajas said...

I don't understand what you're finally supposed to wear for work?

whaaaaaaaaaat? i hate this dress code!!!!!!!

SUZE said...

such a cute outfit! And your hair is so long!!!! jealous.

Amanda A. said...

That is a really weird dress code. Where is the list of things that you are allowed to wear?

Holly Keenan said...

Wow, that is an awkward dress code. I would have nothing to wear!

I agree what can you wear to work? what a horrible idea. We have dark blue jeans black shoes and our black shirt (restaurant life) I wish I could wear cardis skirts boots tights dresses anything but jeans and a black shirt.

MoMo said...

Wait....what are you supposed to wear? There are, like, no options. For realz.

Cute outfit! I would never think to pair gingham and leopard print together! Looks good!

We have a pretty strict dress code at Disney, but in it's own way, it's also pretty lax. It's all business casual- women used to have to wear hose if wearing a skirt/dress. Men must be clean shaven, women hairstyles have to be conservative and all one color and nails can be neutral tones: beige, pink or red. Nothing too bright or outlandish. They even say that hair ties have to be the same shade as your hair, and no headband wider than 1 inch.

Ok....the no Cardigan would just kill me...i work in corporate offices, and it can get really cold, even in the summer...and PLUS cardigans go with everything...at least you are allowed to wear denim with a blazer....
