i'm laying in bed with the windows open listening to the drizzle of a much anticipated bout of rain. the air coming in through the window screen is cool, crisp, and smells like leaves and autumn. there is a tiny gnat crawling on my computer screen, but not surprisingly, i can't get myself to swat it away because i imagine that it has goosebumps over it's tiny fly body and is using the heat that my computer puts out in order to stay warm in this suddenly cool city. after all, a flies life is only like 3 days, right? i want him to have a good time about it.
perhaps i'll consider it my good deed for the day. i realize that seems like a rather lame 'good deed' but i'm just going to go from the gnats perspective on this one...it'll make me feel better about myself.

tomorrow i will aim higher, maybe shoot for a homo sapien, or at the very least, a mammal.

sweet dreams.

Baby steps are the perfect beginning :)
You have a way with words, lady.

hahaha this made me laugh so much. Kudos to you for letting the gnat warm himself. I'd count that as a super good deed.

This is probably the cutest thing I've ever read.  You have such a great writing style!

not so. i too once felt bad for swatting at all the house flies. but then i googled them. they can live for up to a MONTH or even TWO "if cared for properly." i kill them any chance i get.

I totally get it... I usually can't get myself to step on ants.. I mean they are just busily living their lives....now spiders that's a different story. ;)
