A Lovers Holiday.

6.02.2011

When Ma Nielson offered us a free night at any Marriott we packed our bags and took a little lovers holiday to Prescott, Arizona.
Why Prescott, you ask?
Well it may have had something to do with this story over at Sometimes Sweet...
After seeing that pictures and knowing such a wonderful story to go along with it, I just had to see it in person, and let me tell you, Hank picked a dang good place to pop the question (congrats on your 3year)!
From Raven's Cafe (all organic)
I wonder if I'll ever stop dreaming about those sweet potato fries...?
Thrifty's!
Onion Rings too big.
It was such a charming little town with good eats, cute streets, ideal weather, and the MOST amazing antique shops EVER!
(I got a beautiful 1960s scarf that I can not wait to wear for just $5!)
Plus, the Main Street is called Gurley Street. I couldn't get over the cuteness of that.

Prescott also happens to be the place that Ma Nielson spent some years of her childhood in, so we got to stop by her house and talk to the current resident.
She turned out to be an elderly lady who was in need of some company, so she invited us in and we spent a lot more time than we had anticipated just visiting with her. How lovely it was.
I'm happy to live in a state with such treasure so near!

How is it you've maneuvered your way into my heart as my favorite couple and I don't even know you? ;)

Now I need to brainstorm some OC hideaways for you for when you return! <3

The treasure in Alaska... hmm ...there are so many! I would have to say that the place that my hubby proposed is the best. It's a wonderful place called McHugh Creak Park. He proposed on a bridge overlooking a river in the middle of the woods. It was perfect. If you would like to see the video of this wonderful place, it's right here:  http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hey+mom+from+alaska&aq=f
It's the video that we made to show his parents where he proposed to me at.

Wow! That is so cool! I saw your adventures in Jerome and wondered if you would come and visit Prescott. It truly is a great place to live. Did you happen to eat at Monks? Next time you're here they have even better sweet potato fries than the Raven. I think. Sweet potato fries are just delicious all around.

I love your blog and check it regularly. I also love that you feature so many different restaurants and things to do in Phoenix. My parent's live there and this weekend we are leaving our little guy and daring the 108 heat and having a little getaway ourselves. First, I wanted to grab some of your recommendations for places to eat.

I also love your music recommendations. Bon Iver. wow.

Oh, and p.s. any older elderly woman in Prescott will most definitely keep you talking for at least 4 hours. Maybe/often more. ;) I love me some Prescott peeps.

How fun! Heath and I went for Valentine's Day (w/ Juni) and had a great time. In fact my FB picture with the pig was on Gurley St. We ate at Raven's as well, good choice. Great pictures!

I adore your blog. Ever since I read your post about Jerome I have been searching for cute places to visit. Ok. Don't freak out when you read this, but there is THE MOST ADORABLE PLACE YOU WILL EVER SEE. Leavenworth, Washington. It is to die for. Also, Bainbridge Island, Washington. SO CUTE. I'm going to post about it when I go in August. You must visit both.
