I spent the day sewing.
My mom mailed me a pattern so I could make an attempt at sewing a dress for this photoshoot we have coming up with weekend.
Marcus and I are portraying the parts of Daisy and Gatsby (from the Great Gatsby) for our friend, Blake's, semester project.
We're really excited!
The problem is, I've never sewn anything without my mom's help.
I opened up the pattern laid it all out, and then realized I had NO IDEA how to read a pattern.
My mom never uses them, so seriously, it was like a foreign language.
So, I sat there, perplexed.
Then, almost against my control, I began cutting--freestyle.
Hahah but guess what? It's turning out!
I even put in a sleeve--two in fact!
I'm pretty impressed with myself.
Now if only I had a custom body form, because I have no idea how I'm going to get the darting done, so it actually fits up top...wish me luck!
Want to hear about another impressive thing I did since last post?
Last night at our ward social (church) we were on teams and playing games in order to win a prize.
And guess what I had to do?
Play, oh man, I forgot what it's called, um, let me ask Marcus...
KNOCK-OUT! or LIGHTNING! or SPEED!
I've basically never shot a basket in my life. I was the only girl. I was wearing these boots. Please note the heels.
I looked so awkward.
There were about 11 people playing and I made it to the top 4!
Hahah who knew?
I'm at my friend Jenny's tonight, one because I like her, so hanging out at her house is fun, and two because Marcus is having band practice over here with her husband.
She took my pictures for me today. She was nervous, but I think she did an awesome job!
She's also an expert on nail polish, so you should go check her blog out and give yourself a manicure!

Can you do a video post on how to wrap your scarf you're wearing?? I love it but it looks like it takes some practicing or knowledge on how to do it. Thanks! I love your outfits.

I love the Great Gatsby! It's my favorite book :) That's so awesome your doing that. I adore your dress.
I've made a dress form of myself before out of duct tape (I saw someone else mentioned that, as well). It totally works!! Let me tell you, though... you'll look like a total nerd/space alien while making it, though. But so worth it!
What a beautiful place for pictures! Your outfit looks so pretty and comfortable and effortless-just like always!
I haven't played knock-out in years. I am very impressed with your top-four-in-heeled-boots skills!
I LOVE that you're portraying those characters-hopefully we can see the final product!

Hey fellow remixer- super cute outfit! I love your hair- makes we want to be blonde again! xo Emily
You really are so pretty and have a great since of style. ;)
You look gorgeous! Way to be in the top four for bball- thats awesome!
i cant sew for anything - so jealous you even got that far! :)
YEAH!! for sewing!
if you can sew while you are wearing a dress you can totally pin it to fit while wearing it. Just put it on and stand in front of a mirror to do the darting... trust me I made it through college with this method (bust forms are a misnomer, they have way less bust than I do)
do we get to see pictures from the Gatsby shoot?! Pretty Please?!
cant wait to see your great gatsby dress!! your hair looks really good by the way! did you dye it yourself?

i was just introduced to your blog by one of my friends and I am inspired. I read through your "Us" page and your love story and can I just say... I can't wait to find love! You make it seem so exciting and cute and little princess fairytale-type. I love your fashion sense and how free-spirited you are! :) I found out the other day that I am someway, somehow related to the Nielsons. Does the family name Burgon ring a bell? Anyway, your amazing! :)
