Now, Be Honest.

1.21.2011

Remember when this shirt had bleach stains on it, plus it was super tight, so it showed my muffin-top, therefore it hung, safe in my closet based solely on the fact that I loved to look at that color (one of my personal favs)?

Ya, well, you probably didn’t remember that, because you don’t live in my brain, but that was, however, the truth behind this shirt…until last night, when I was sitting on my bed while Marcus and his band, Old Money, played their weekend set for the 18th time in a row.
Don’t get me wrong, I love their music, but after 4 hours of it, I was getting a little bored.

I needed a project, so I grabbed the shirt, called my SIL, Alice, and asked her for a refresher course on t-shirt necklaces. She gave me a verbal tutorial and we chatted as I snipped away. By the time we got off the phone the necklace was almost complete!
Seriously, that easy! Now I’m wearing it to the boys show tonight (@Sammy’s in Rexburg, if you happen to be up here, you should come! But if you  come say hi to me and my breath smells like the taco bus, don‘t judge me…)
What do you think? Is it cool, or am I just emotionally attached to it because I made it?

It's lovely! It kind of looks like a cross between an ADORABLE statement necklace and an infinity scarf!

LOVING it! This is the second time I've seen someone make a t-shirt necklace and I think that it's a sign that I need to make one as well!

Um, muffin top? There is no such thing on you, my dear.

The necklace turned out cute! I'm glad you posted about it.

Oh yeah. Jay and I just got back from Liberty Market, where we ran into Richard and Becky and had a nice chat. I almost didn't recognize Richard sans glasses. :)

Ha! I just went back and read the comments and found that Alice already told you about our Liberty Market Visit, but the funny thing is her "muffin top" comment because I was thinking the EXACT same thing! Girl you don't KNOW about muffin tops! Nope. I am laughing now for sure!

I completely agree with all the other comments... IT'S SO SO COOL! Please, Ashley, post a tutorial for all of us! I want to try doing one, I have lots of T-shirts I can not wear any more because of the muffin top, and transforming them into a nice necklace would be amazing.

You might just think it's cool because you made it, but I think it's cool ... and I didn't make it ... so there must be something intrinsically cool about it. =) I think I'll work on something similar with some thinner-knit t-shirts. Fingers crossed that I won't just have a bunch of purple threads by the end of it!

i'm definitely adding this to my to do list.
