confession.

1.28.2011

So, I think it's time to spill the beans.

I've been feeling really blah about my hair color--although it photographed vibrant and shiny, in real-life it was looking pretty drab and faded

As much as I tried not to--I missed my blonde locks, but my hairdresser (sister) was 900 miles away, so I had to take matters into my own hands (although I probably made 400 calls home in the last 3 days).

UNFORTUNATELY: I was feeling too insecure to take any pictures of the process.
FORTUNATELY: The phases my hair went through have famous counterparts.

Day One: I basically looked exactly like this:
It was so terrifying. Not so much because my hair was ugly (it was), but because any relation to the wretched Malfoy Family made me hate myself. cringe.

Day Two: I could have passed for Lady Gaga:
I'm still not sure why my hair turned bright YELLOW, but it did, and ugh, I greatly regretted my ambition.

Day Three: This one's actually me:
I've cut a lot of the yellow out, but it's still a working process, therefore tomorrows {For Fashion Sake's} Saturday is a picture from last week.

You'll just have to wait til 30 for 30 starts to see the blonde me...

Love me through it, people, love me through it!

it looks exciting!

just a tip (which you may already know), if you want to cut out yellow/orange/brassy undertones, you should probably invest in some violet shampoo and wash maybe once a week with it. it will help keep your blonde a nice pretty blonde.
i'd recommend picking up some shimmer lights violet shampoo by clariol (you can get it at sally's beauty supply). that stuff works like a gem!

good luck.
and i'm excited for your 30 for 30 challenge!

I bet it looks great! One time, I had my friend do my hair and it was PURPLE so I tried to fix it myself (never again) anf the parts I tried to fix turned orange...luckily, it was Suns season so I just called myself a fan for a couple of days. It was AWFULly funny!

Bleaching your hair is scary. One time my hair turned out splotchy orange. It was horrible.

And don't hate on Malfoy. He names his son such a beautiful name!

I've been in this boat before, it's not fun.

If you have a Paul Mitchell hair school near by I would go in and get a clear PM shine on your hair. It's a semi-permanent...but it doesn't damage your hair and it is a deep moisturizer. There are no bleaching chemicals in it.

It will keep your hair from getting frizzy and seal the follicle so it doesn't show damage as much. It's like $30 at the hair school.

WE will love you through it you deserve it! I SAY!!! I can't wait for the big reveal. May I ask you a question? I have very very black hair and I have been feeling blah for months now. I haven't built enough courage to walk in a salon and do something about it. You know, the questions we all ask ourselves; what color do I like, what best looks good with my skin color? It's olive by the way. Any suggestions????? oh one more thing I have never colored my hair before. I know, I know, shock. But I'm such a scary cat.

I agree about the violet shampoo, it helps a lot with yellowness/brassiness. I sometimes have a problem with my hair pulling brassy when I bleach it because it has a lot of natural red undertones, and the violet shampoo always helps. I'd recommend getting the Generic brand of Shimmer Lights at Sally's. It works exactly the same but it costs less.
