the week was long, marcus was working long long hours, getting home just in time to go to bed and waking up before the sun to get back to work. i know he should be the one complaining, but i was not taking it well. lots of times when marcus and i are together we just sit in the car listening to the radio, or snuggle up in the couch and laugh about something cute Poppy is doing, nothing too special or interesting to anyone but ourselves, but we're together and that's what matters to me, and when we're not together enough, it exhausts me and i know its ridiculous.
and i know and hear about people who have boyfriends or husbands that have to travel a lot for work and live in another town or state, and i feel completely silly for complaining about one lame week, but i felt it, and i'm glad i felt it, because it reminds me of how much i love my marcus.
and it made this weekend, that was all to ourselves, extremely enjoyable and all together refreshing.
lunch date at UrbanPicnic in downtown mesa
groupon date night at macalpine's--oldest soda fountain on the west coast!
arizona state fair!
the animals that further convinced me that i want to be a cowgirl and have a farm.
the darling goat that ate a chuck of my hair off...
after family dinner and my parents nightly tradition of trading foot rubs.
What do you like to do after long 'hard' week?

Ashley, thank you so much for sharing these frank (and well articulated) thoughts! You know, I'm the exact same way. Time with my husband is like food for me, no matter what we are doing. I used to feel pathetic when I would get grouchy about "not spending enough time together" this and that, but then I realized its okay to feel that way! That's just one of my (and sounds like maybe yours too!) love languages! Those who don't mind as much about time as say, acts of service, might get grouchy when their spouse doesn't do the dishes or something haha. Each person has different priorities, things that make them tick. And it's totally okay, as long as we try to keep them in check. To each her own, right?
food, i always want food. time to relax and cuddle and then maybe go out and do something crazy (depending on the weather, utah is bipolar). It looks like its starting to cool down in AZ, hopefully it will be better when we come down for thanksgiving.
i miss so much having those normal things that only mean something to us... being so far from him for such a long time is exhausting! i can't wait to see him in Christmas :)))
after a long hard week i like drinking a hot cocoa on the couch. watching something nice on TV.
I can see the farm girl in you. Come on, your guest bedroom could hold at least 1 goat and a couple chickens for sure ;)
ah. I'm with you. Im forever complaining about Simon's crazy schedule when he is the one working the crazy hours. Weekends off ARE THE BEST!!! Glad you took advantage!!
oh my gosh that shirt/dress is soocute!!!
Where is your hot air ballon dress/tunic from?
I completely relate! I always feel thrown off when we don't get enough time together, then immediately feel guilty because of the women who have their husbands away from them for long periods of time. My husband works 3 twelve hour days and 2 four hour days per week. Then I work 5 four hour days (sometimes more than four hours) and I go to school full time. And we are almost never home at the same time. So it is such a blessing when there is actually a day we can just sit, watch tv and play with our big black lab, Morgan. Being just the two (or three counting our dog) of us, those moments are just so precious.
Can I just tell you I loveee your blog to pieces, I just eat up every single post. I also think you two are the most adorable couple to hit this planet we call earth. And I want to double date with you so I can do fun things like go to the oldest soda fountain in the west coast! So fun!!! PS I can relate to the working husband/never see each other thing. I probably see my husband for a maximum of 2 hours during the day while we are both going to work & school. So I live for the weekends we have off together & Sundays of course! Glad you got to spend yours with your honey!
I really want to have a farm too- one of our day dreams. Devin travels a lot with his job, but I'll be honest, it is a lot easier when he is traveling then when he works a lot and I feel like I am waiting for him to come home. It makes weekends the best though..!
excellent idea! who needs guests anyway?!
thanks lady!
anthropologie, it was an anniversary gift :)
i love the love languages book! as strange as it sounds, marcus and i discussed that book and the color code the first time we hung out! haha glad you're on the love languages train! :)
ya, we're having a tiny heat wave, but then it's supposed to cool down again! and yes. food!
that would be really really hard! hope you're hangin' in there and enjoying your time over there! have soooo much fun for christmas :)))
isn't it terrible of us! haha
wow! that sounds like one BUSY schedule! now i really feel bad for complaining! i hope you guys find some extra time to hang out! sounds like you know how to do it when you do! :) p.s. i love black labs, they're so pretty:)
i've always wondered what that's like, because really, it's the wondering when he'll be off and having to wait around to get things done that's one of the hardest things for me! but either way, it's just more fun to have them around! hahah
Always better to have them home, but waiting is the worse!
justine, you're sooo sweet! you guys are adorable too! i remember when we were both in school it was insane because even when we were together we were doing homework (which is never fun!) but it certainly makes that time you do have all the better!
it is hard!! but I will cherish those Christmas days!! :)
I just saw this! But I agree, when that time comes when we are both out of school, I will be so happy I'm not even sure what I will do with myself! But doing homework with him is better than doing homework alone! So I just try and remember that! :)
