sunday was one of the greatest days of my life.
sunday there was a solar eclipse and no, it did not involve disgusting vampires or silly a capella groups.
it did, however, involve a few of my very favorite things that are neither silly nor disgusting:
1. the moon 2. the sun 3. my local community college planetarium 4. amazing 'solar viewers' (that i didn't know were one of my favorite things until i used them for the first time on sunday) and 5. telescopes
you guys, it's like no one really understood the crazy awesomeness that we were witnessing!
i was running, and jumping, and squealing, and almost bursting out into tears when I looked in the telescope and saw the moons passing in front of the sun--like a lovers rendezvous.

for goodness sakes, LOOK!:
why weren't more people freaking out?
why when i speed across town, with a 'solar viewer' in hand, to try and let my sister and brother-in-law catch the last few seconds of the passing, did they say, "Cool" in sort of the most unconvincing tone anyone could muster?
and probably the most important question of all,
WHY am i not an astronaut?
or at the very least an astronomer?
because i'm a fool.
clearly.
